Two Die of Sun Stroke in Kozhikode

Police said the exact cause of the death could be confirmed only after the post-mortem.

KOZHIKODE: Two suspected sun stroke deaths were reported in the district on Saturday. The victims have been identified as Parayammal Damodaran, 53, a native of Payyoli and Cheriyaraman, 70, of Thottakad Adivasi colony in Karassery panchayat.

Damodaran was engaged in construction work at Kuttiady when tragedy struck him. He was rushed to Kuttiady Taluk hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead. Sun burns were found on his body. However, police said the exact cause of the death could be confirmed only after the post-mortem for which the body has been sent to the Kozhikode Medical College. He is survived by wife Anita and two sons - Abin and Athul.

Raman, a woodcutter, was found lying on the Thottakad-Maramchatti road around noon on Saturday. Though he was taken to hospital, doctors declared him brought dead. Sun burns were found on his hands and legs. Police prima facie concluded that sun stroke was the cause of his death.
