Ban on digging up of roads in Kerala

ALAPPUZHA: With monsoon imminent, PWD Minister G Sudhakaran has issued an order banning the digging up of  PWD roads and National Highways in the state for the next two months.   Addressing a meeting to take stock of the pre-monsoon arrangements at the District Collectorate here, which was presided by Civil Supplies Minister P Thilothaman, the Works Minister made it clear that the decision was prompted by the likelihood of heavy showers.

G Sudhakaran hastened to add that in the event of an emergency, the digging work should be carried out under the supervision of Executive Engineer or other senior PWD officials.
