MALAPPURAM:' Three days after a bomb went off at the Malappuram Collectorate, the investigators elicited an eyewitness statement to draw the photofit of a suspect he had found with a bag, minutes before the explosion.

Mohammed A, a car driver who happened to be at the blast site, had to run for life when a low intensity, improvised explosive device (IED) had gone off with a deafening noise, on Tuesday.

He was scrolling through the messages on his mobile phone with earphones on when he saw a man carrying a black bag loiter just outside the court compound.

“I saw a man with a bag just before the bomb exploded. After the explosion he had just disappeared. I am not sure whether he was behind the blast, but I saw him standing there,” Mohammed said.

“On hearing the blast I ran away from the site to take cover. It was a deafening noise. I was lucky to come out unhurt. The explosion even shattered the windshields of my car,” he said.
