KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Thursday reserved order on a revision petition filed by the CBI seeking to quash the Thiruvananthapuram CBI Special Court order discharging Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and six others from the SNC-Lavalin case.

The judgment was reserved on completion of the arguments by the CBI and the counsel for the accused persons.  Harish Salve, senior advocate and Supreme Court counsel, appeared for Pinarayi Vijayan while Additional Solicitor General Natarajan represented the CBI.

Earlier, at the revision plea hearing, Salve had termed the CBI charges fanciful.

According to him, there was no material evidence to prove Pinarayi had made any pecuniary advantage as a result of the deal.

Moreover, the CBI charge of Pinarayi evincing special interest in signing the deal was baseless. Also, the documents submitted by the CBI showed there was no conspiracy in the deal.

Besides, Salve drew the High Court’s attention to the fact V Rajagopalan, the then chairman of the KSEB, took charge on February 20, 1996 and continued till March 26, 1998.
