KOCHI: The police team probing the abduction and sexual assault of an actor in Kochi has filed a chargesheet against seven persons, including key accused Sunil Kumar aka Pulsar Suni.
The 315-page chargesheet, filed before the Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate, has arraigned seven persons and named Suni as the first accused.
Martin Joseph, Manikandan, Vijeesh, Salim, Pradeep and Charley Thomas are the other accused in the case. According to the chargesheet, all the accused, except Charley Thomas, have been booked on the charges of kidnapping, rape, criminal conspiracy under Sections 120(b), 342, 366, 376, 506(1), 212, 201 and 34 of IPC and Sections 66E and 67A of the IT Act.
Charley, who provided accommodation to Suni and his aides in Coimbatore, has been charged with criminal conspiracy. Investigating officer K G Babu Kumar, Aluva DySP, submitted the chargesheet before the court on Tuesday.
Police said the chargesheet was prepared based on the result of the forensic examination of evidence recovered during the inquiry.
However, the investigators are yet to recover the mobile phone used by the accused to capture the actor’s video, despite extensive search. With the investigators filing the chargesheet within two months after the incident, they have foiled the possibilities of the accused procuring bail.
