KOTTAYAM: IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman, who has been hogging the headlines lately for leading the anti-encroachment drive in Munnar , claimed in a Facebook post that he has no association with Facebook page named ‘Devikulam Sub Collector’ and that it was created without his knowledge.

Venkitaraman, on Sunday, said he reported the page to Facebook. “I came to know from my friends that people are being misled by an FB page that goes by my official title 'Devikulam Sub collector'. This page is neither my official Fcaebook page nor has it been created with my knowledge or permission. The posts or comments in the page are not my opinions. I have also not given the page owner(s) any permission to use my official title as the page name, or to post on my behalf. I have reported the page to Facebook. The page itself mentions that it is a fan page in its bio. I therefore request the owner(s) of the said page to change the name of the page to suit its credibility, so that it doesn’t lead to any more confusion. My official page is available on my Facebook profile,” Venikitaraman said in his FB post.

The ‘Devikulam Sub Collector’ page had made some misleading posts on its wall and had hailed the attempts of the Central government to 'save Munnar'. It is under these circumstances that Venkitaraman made it clear that he was not associated with the page.
