Oommen Chandy warns government against forming Kerala Bank

Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has warned the Pinarayi Government against setting up the Kerala Bank (KB) at the cost the district cooperative banks (DCBs).

PATHANAMTHITTA: Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has warned the Pinarayi Government against setting up the Kerala Bank (KB) at the cost the district cooperative banks (DCBs). Inaugurating the public meeting as part of  the 29th state conference of Kerala Cooperative Employees Front (KCEF) here, Oommen Chandy warned of an agitation if the government was going ahead with establishing Kerala Bank after winding up the district cooperative banks.

“The government was handling the affairs of the cooperative sector with vested interests, including political motives,” Oommen Chandy said. “The cooperative sector is dealt with an eye on the huge deposits.”DCC president Babu George presided over the function. KCEF state president P K Rajeevan delivered the introductory address. General secretary Charles Antony, treasurer Joshua Mathew and Mathew Kulathinkal also spoke.
