‘Nitish Kumar misrepresenting facts’

Nitish Kumar’s claim that the decision to ally with the BJP was taken with the consent of the party is a misrepresentation of facts, said Varughese George, national general secretary of Janata Dal.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nitish Kumar’s claim that the decision to ally with the BJP was taken with the consent of the party is a misrepresentation of facts, said Varughese George, national general secretary of Janata Dal(United), in a statement here on Saturday.“Neither the national executive for the meeting of the national office-bearers has been convened since October 2016.

Important policy decisions having national bearing, including demonetization, Assembly elections held to the five states, presidential elections and withdrawing from the grand alliance were being taken by the Bihar unit without consulting the national council either,” he said, amid intense moves and counter-moves in the wake of removal of Sharad Yadav as the leader of the parliamentary group on Saturday. The scheduled meetings of the above committees after a gap of nine months might be intended to legitimise the earlier decisions, Varughese George said.

“None of the 34 national council members from Kerala will attend the meeting of the JD(U) national council, slated for August 19 at Patna. The next move of the national council members from the state will be finalised after consulting Sharad Yadav and M P Veerendrakumar,” George said.
