THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Close on the heels of the chief secretary issuing him a show cause notice over his spat with MK Raghavan MP, Kozhikode Collector N Prasanth - popularly known as Collector Bro with his large following in social media- has been removed from the post. Wednesday's Cabinet meeting decided to replace him with tourism director UV Jose. Prasanth has not been given new posting.

Though the reason for the transfer has not been stated, sources said the public fight between the Collector and the Kozhikode MP, must have cost him dearly. The open confrontation between the Collector and MP on spending the MP funds had created headlines.

Last month, Chief Secretary SM Vijayanandan had served a notice to Collector N Prasanth stating that he had been charged with misconduct over his public confrontation with MK Raghavan MP. There were reports that the chief secretary issued the notice after Prasanth refused to join hands with other IAS officers in the strike as part of their fight against Vigilance director Jacob Thomas.
