Left Democratic Front gets the upper hand in Kerala Local Body Bypoll with six seats

The Kerala Congress (M) wrested the Moonnilavu ward in Moonnilavu gram panchayat (Kottayam) from the Congress.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) gained an upper hand in Tuesday's by-election to 11 local body seats, the results of which were announced on Wednesday. While the LDF bagged six out of the 11 seats, the United Democratic Front (UDF) won four seats while Kerala Congress (M) bagged one seat.

Out of the six LDF seats, five were bagged by the Communist Party of India (CPI) and one by the Communist Party of India Marxist (CPM). In the UDF camp, Congress won three seats while its ally, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) bagged one seat.

The seats bagged  in various gram panchayats  by LDF were: Minnilam ward in Panavoor (Thiruvananthapuram), Nedumbara ward in Aryankavu (Kollam), Neythushalappadi ward in Pambakkuda (Ernakulam), Vadanappally West ward in Vadanappally (Thrissur), Thekkekara in Alagappanagar (Thrissur) and Pindani in Puthanchira (Thrissur).

The UDF won Peringalloor Mission Quarters ward in Thrissur Municipal Corporation,Peringalloor in Vijayapuram gram panchayat (Kottayam),Thazhathangadi in Areekode gram panchayat (Malappuram) and Pakkam in Panamaram block panchayat Wayanad).

The Kerala Congress (M) wrested the Moonnilavu ward in Moonnilavu gram panchayat (Kottayam) from the Congress.
