KOCHI: The state government on Wednesday told the Kerala High Court it will come up with an ordinance on the fee structure of medical seats in self-financing colleges.
The government made the submission in response to a batch of petitions challenging the fee structure of medical seats fixed by the committee constituted under the Kerala Medical Education (Regulation and Control of Admission to Private Medical Educational Institutions) Ordinance, 2017.
The petitioners said the five-member committee had the power to determine the fee of medical seats in each private medical college. Conferring of such power was against the fundamental rights of colleges as guaranteed under the Supreme Court judgment in the T M A Pai Foundation case of 2001.
