Sitaram Yechury manhandle: A planned attack, says Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday termed the attack on CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury at the party’s central committee office at New Delhi a planned one.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday termed the attack on CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury at the party’s central committee office at New Delhi a planned one.

Pinarayi said the Delhi Police ignored the state intelligence’s alert about possible attacks on CPM leaders.
Pinarayi said the Sangh Parivar has been unleashing violence across the country.

“The RSS has been attempting to suppress its critics and is trying to eliminate those who oppose its extreme Hindu stance. The CPM cannot be silenced through such attacks and intimidations. The party will continue to fight against Hindutwa Fascist attacks,” he said.

“The Sangh Parivar is not afraid of carrying out such attacks as they enjoy support from the BJP Government at the Centre. The attack against CPM’s general secretary is a direct threat - independent and democratic political activity will not be allowed,” he said.

The CM said the intelligence wing of the Kerala Police had alerted the Delhi Police Commissioner and the Joint Commissioner in-charge of security about the possible attack on AKG Bhavan and party leaders during the Police Bureau meeting on June 5.

The Resident Commissioner had also given a complaint to the Delhi Police authorities after the recent attacks on Kerala House. “The Delhi Police under the Union government ignored all these communications,” Pinarayi alleged.
