Pressure mounts on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, LDF

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Left Front, the state government and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan have come under tremendous pressure in the wake of the High Court’s adverse remarks in the Thomas Chandy case. Top sources in LDF indicated the Transport Minister, under fire from the High Court, is likely to step down on Wednesday. 

Chandy reaches capital
Meanwhile, Thomas Chandy reached Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday night ahead of his crucial meeting with Pinarayi on Wednesday. Youth Congress members waved black flag at him when he was about to enter his official residence. Police arrested the protesters.

All eyes on Pinarayi
With the new developments, all eyes are on Pinarayi who’s expected to take a call soon. He held talks with CPM state chief Kodiyeri Balakrishnan later in the day. NCP state president T P Peethambaran Master, along with party state leadership, will hold talks with the Chief Minister, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and Kanam Rajendran in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday. 

Minister under pressure
The adverse remarks from the court and the differences of opinion in the NCP state leadership meet in Kochi have put additional pressure on Thomas Chandy. The minister is however clinging on to the position till the HC verdict is out.
