KOCHI: The Coconut Development Board (CDB) has extended accident insurance for coconut tree climbers and Neera technicians under the Kera Suraksha Insurance Scheme.The sum insured will be `2 lakh and the scheme is being implemented through Oriental Insurance Company Ltd, Tripunithura.
All the trainees under FOCT (Friends of Coconut Tree) training programme and Neera technician training programme are covered under the scheme, starting from the first day of their training. Traditional coconut tree climbers can also avail themselves of the scheme. The insurance is for a period of one year and on expiry it needs to be renewed for continued cover under the scheme, said a CDB release here.
Duly filled in application forms countersigned by the agriculture officer/panchayat president/ /CPF office- bearers/CPC directors along with a demand draft for `23 drawn in favour of the Coconut Development Board and payable at Ernakulam, should be sent to chairman, Coconut Development Board, Kera Bhavan, Kochi - 682011, Kerala.
