Kodanad estate murder:  Accused grievously injured in Kerala road accident; wife, child killed

Barely 24 hours after the prime accused in the estate murder case was killed, the second accused was grievously injured in another road accident, that left his wife and child killed.

PALAKKAD/SALEM: In a sudden twist in the Kodanad estate security guard murder, Kanakaraj, 36, the prime accused in the case, was killed in a road accident at Salem on Friday night. 

Barely 24 hours after the mishap, Sayan K V, who is the second accused in the murder case, was grievously injured and his wife and daughter were killed on Saturday when the car they were travelling in met with an accident at Kannadi here.

The deceased were Sayan’s wife Vinupriya, 30, hailing from Madukkarai, and Neethu, 6, the couple’s daughter.  According to the Palakkad South Traffic Police, Sayan, son of Velu K G, Koonakampally house, Edakkulam, Thrissur was at the wheel of the ill-fated vehicle.

The family was en route to Thrissur from Coimbatore when the vehicle rear-ended a container fish lorry around 5.30 am. The lorry which had developed a technical snag was parked near a workshop for repair. Its driver and cleaner, who were sleeping atop the vehicle when the accident occurred, escaped unhurt.
