THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Secretariat march and dharna will be held under the aegis of the Congress-led Sahakarana Janadhipathya Vedi,on August 7,along with protests in front of the co-op joint registrar offices in all districts raising the demands of a rollback of the Left Government’s moves to scrap the district co-op banks and form a Kerala Bank in its place and an end to the unwarranted scrutiny and choking of co-operative institutions under the control of the UDF.
Sahakarana Janadhipathya Vedi chairman Karakulam Krishna Pillai said the protest march and dharna would highlight the demand for a repeal of the ordinance barring office-bearership for a person in a co-op institution more than twice.Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala,former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and other leaders will address the secretariat dharna. KPCC president M M Hassan,UDF convenor P P Thankachan, former minister and PCC president C V Padmarajan, former Co-operation Minister C N Balakrishnan will lead the protests in various districts.
