KASARGOD: In yet another incident of student suicide in the state, a dental college student was found dead at her residence at Chirappuram, Nileshwaram, on Wednesday. The deceased is Amitha, 21, daughter of Madhu and Shanta. Amitha was a third year BDS student at Pariyaram Medical College. The body of the girl was found hanging from a fan in her bedroom around 10 am.  It was her mother who first saw the body.

“Though the neighbours, who rushed to the house after hearing the cries of the mother, took the girl to a nearby hospital, she was declared brought dead,” the police said adding that the girl was supposed to go to the college on Wednesday to pay fees.  The girl’s father is working abroad.

The body has been shifted to Pariyaram Medical College for post-mortem examination. The police suspect it to be a case of suicide. However, the exact cause of the death can be ascertained only after a detailed investigation. The deceased has a sister working as a pharmacist in a medical shop at Nileshwaram.
