The mobile phone used by Pulsar Suni, the prime accused in the actress assault case, during his incarceration at the sub-jail here was a stolen one, originally belonging to a Salem native.

KOCHI: The mobile phone used by Pulsar Suni, the prime accused in the actress assault case, during his incarceration at the sub-jail here was a stolen one, originally belonging to a Salem native. The police team probing the conspiracy behind the assault on the actress said the phone had gone missing from Coimbatore last October. 

During investigation, the cops also found the phone was within the location of a mobile tower near the Kakkanad District Jail since April.The police recovered the phone during a raid at the residence of Sunil aka Masthiri Sunil, a native of Kottayam and a fellow prisoner of Suni. The police had found Vishnu, another fellow inmate of Suni, had brought the phone to the prison by concealing it inside his shoes and handed it over to Suni.

Suni reportedly admitted he had contacted both Nadirshah and Appunni, manager of actor Dileep, using this phone. In this backdrop, the sleuths are planning to conduct a detailed interrogation of the trio again, besides a few others from the film industry.The team probing the case on Thursday collected statements from mimicry artist K S Prasad and film producer Anto Joseph at the Aluva Police Club.

Torture allegation
Pulsar Suni on Thursday told mediapersons he was tortured by the police. He said his earlier revelations had done great damage to him. To repeated queries of reporters, Suni said he would approach a magistrate seeking to record his dying declaration. He said this while being taken to the Infopark police station for questioning.

Suni’s counsel moves court
B A Aloor, the counsel representing Pulsar Suni, has approached the Kakkanad Judicial First Class Magistrate Court seeking to either cancel the police custody of his client or grant permission to visit him everyday while in custody. “The petition is being moved in the wake of a statement by the accused he was assaulted by the police during custody,” Aloor said. Based on the petition, the court issued a notice in this regard to the investigating officer and will consider the petition on Friday.
