KOTTAYAM: While welcoming former DGP T P Senkumar to its fold, BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan said the former police officer’s statement on demographic status of the state was precise and factual. Earlier, Senkumar had said rise in birthrate among Muslims would change Kerala’s demography.

“Senkumar made the statement after proper and accurate studies. It is a reality that Kerala is heading to a terrifying situation,” he told reporters here, on Monday.

Kummanam said Senkumar’s entry into the BJP would strengthen the party in the state. “At the same time, it is Senkumar, who should take a decision on joining the BJP. Anyone who accepts BJP’s ideologies can join the party. It will discuss the matter if Senkumar discloses his political stand,” he said. Kummanam also demanded an inquiry into the matters disclosed by Senkumar.

Ramesh pays Senkumar a ‘friendly’ visit

T’Puram: BJP state general secretary M T Ramesh on Monday called on former DGP T P Senkumar at the latter’s residence here. The meeting assumes significance in the wake of Senkumar’s controversial remarks on birthrate among Muslim community in the state. Ramesh, however, termed it a friendly visit. “I have not invited him (Senkumar) to the BJP. It was just a friendly visit. Senkumar is being isolated and attacked from all corners.  It is for him to clarify whether he wants to join the BJP,” he said.
