Kerala Actress abduction case: Suni’s remand period extended to August 1

 The Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Tuesday extended the remand period of Pulsar Suni, the first accused in the actress assault case, to August 1.

KOCHI: The Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Tuesday extended the remand period of Pulsar Suni, the first accused in the actress assault case, to August 1. Suni was produced before the court as his judicial custody was slated to end on Tuesday. 

“Suni will soon approach the Angamaly court seeking to record his statement before the Magistrate,” said Suni’s counsel B A Aloor.  Aloor told reporters the petition to record Suni’s statement under section 164 of CrPC would be moved in the light of more persons being arraigned as accused in the case.

“The petition will be filed after consulting Suni. A statement given to the Magistrate has more legal validity than those recorded by the police,” he said. Suni’s counsel also moved a petition seeking bail for the accused. The court will hear the petition along with the bail applications filed by his co-accused on July 20.

Vipin Lal to be questioned
The special investigation team probing the case will interrogate Vipin Lal, the 10th accused in the actor assault case. He is currently lodged in the Viyyur Central prison in Thrissur. 
Vipin Lal, a former fellow prisoner of Suni at the District Jail in Kakkanad, had earlier written a letter on behalf of Pulsar Suni, addressing actor Dileep, the 11th accused in the case.

Abduction bid: Police record Suni’s arrest
 Kochi:
The Ernakulam Central Police on Tuesday recorded the arrest of Pulsar Suni aka Sunil Kumar in a fresh case registered against him on charges of allegedly attempting to abduct another actress in 2011. Suni is currently lodged in the Kakkanad District Jail in connection with the actor assault case. A team led by CI Ananthalal visited the prison and recorded the arrest of Suni on Tuesday evening.

Earlier, the police had taken took two youths into custody in connection with the case. However, no arrest was recorded, the police said.According to an officer, a team has left for Thiruvananthapuram to record the statement of the actress. The police had registered the case on the basis of the complaint lodged by producer Johny Sagarika. According to the police, the incident occurred when the actress arrived in the city for shooting purposes.

‘VIP in Aluva’ 
Asked about the involvement of more persons in the incident, Suni told reporters it was for the ‘VIP in Aluva’ to reveal more details. “The story has reached only the halfway point,” Suni told media persons outside the Angamaly court while being taken to the prison on Tuesday.

Pratheesh’s bail plea hearing 
Kochi:
The Kerala High Court has adjourned the anticipatory bail plea of Pratheesh Chacko, former counsel of Pulsar Suni, to Wednesday. The court issued the order after the counsel of Pratheesh Chacko sought an adjournment. There has been an allegation Suni had given the mobile phone used to record the assault on the actress to his then counsel Pratheesh Chacko.
