IDUKKI: A 29 year-old man who was seriously injured after being shot by his father at Suryanelli near Munnar succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday. The deceased was Binu, a taxi driver, hailing from Vadakkumcheril House, Suryanelli. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kochi.
Binu was shot at by Achankunju with a country made gun on Sunday night following a family dispute. Meanwhile, Binu’s father Achankunju, 56, who was arrested by Santhanpara police was produced before the court and remanded the other day.
According to Vinod Kumar, station house officer at Santhanpara police station, charges slapped against Achankunju will be revised from attempt to murder (Section 307) to murder (IPC Section 302) following the victim’s death. “We will submit a request in the court to alter the charges and will do it in accordance with the concurrence of the court,” he said.
