Talks on switching to LDF irrelevant, says Harris

The state unit of  the Janata Dal (U) will remain solidly behind M P Veerendra Kumar, said party state secretary general Sheikh P Harris here on Thursday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state unit of  the Janata Dal (U) will remain solidly behind M P Veerendra Kumar, said party state secretary general Sheikh P Harris here on Thursday. The state council of  the party will take stock of the Bihar developments and take a decision on the future course of action when it meets in the second week of August, he told mediapersons here. The venue and date will be finalised later.

He, however, said there will not be any political rethinking as rumoured. “The party is united and is part of the UDF. The talk of switching sides to the LDF is irrelevant,” he said.
Sheik P Harris said Veerendra Kumar had already announced the state unit’s clear stand in New Delhi.
He also said the JD (U) is not facing an organisational crisis for the first time. “Earlier, when Deva Gowda was national president, the party decided to support the BJP and we founded the Socialist Janata (D) under the presidentship of Surendra Mohan. It was merged with the JD(U) later,” he said.
