MALAPPURAM: In a tragic incident, two kids drowned in a pond at Cheruvayur near Vazhakkad in the district on Tuesday.
The Vazhakkad police have identified the victims as Afwan, 6, and Rizwan. The duo ventured to a pond near their houses and the accident occurred while they tried to swim.
The police said no one was around at that time and hence the kids could not be rescued. According to the police, the children used to visit the pond frequently and local residents had warned them several times.
The bodies were recovered after a search was carried by local residents in the pond.
