Former Chief Minister K Karunakaran birth centenary observed as memorial on Thursday

THRISSUR: The birth centenary of former Chief Minister K Karunakaran on Thursday was observed as remembrance day.

Born in Kannur on July 5, 1918, Karunakaran had shifted to Thrissur when he joined the fine arts college here.

AICC general secretary K C Venugopal, accompanied by Karunakaran’s daughter and KPCC general secretary Padmaja Venugopal, DCC president T N Prathapan, besides Therambil Ramakrishnan and other Congressmen paid tributes to Karunakaran - fondly called ‘leader’ - at his memorial at Murali Mandiram, Punkunnam.

Venugopal, who inaugurated the remembrance meet, delved into politics by criticising the BJP who tried to canvass political representatives in Karnataka.
