Moideen's father Siddik, a resident of Bayikkatta in Paivalige panchayat, said the boy kept to himself on reaching home on Thursday. "His mother found that unsual as he always rushed out to play with his friends after reaching home," he said. When she enquired, the boy said he was caned in the classroom.

When she lifted his shirt, she found four dark brown scars on his back, Siddik said. "She was concerned about it," he said. The family took the child to hospital, and the Parents Teachers Association and residents got in touch with the management, seeking action against the erring teacher.
