KOCHI: Faulty machinery at the Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd (FACT) has led to the company finding it difficult to meet the growing demand for Factomfos (Ammonium Sulphate Phosphate) and Ammonium Sulphate fertilisers. The demand for fertilisers generally peaks during the monsoon season (June-August).

The production of Factomfos at the Udyogamandal manufacturing plant, which accounts for about 20 per cent of the total output, has been halted for the past couple of weeks due to the faulty boiler, resulting in a shortfall of 500 metric tonnes daily. FACT’s Ambalamedu unit produces around 2,000 metric tonnes of fertilisers daily.
