MALAYIDAMTHURUTHU (PERUMBAVOOR): After the brutal rape and murder of a law student in which an Assamese was convicted, a West Bengal native has been arrested for brutally killing a college student in her house at Malayidamthuruthu, near Perumbavoor, on Monday.

Nimisha Thampi, 22, Anthinattu, Ambunadu near Thadiyittaparambu, was murdered at 10 am on Monday. According to the police, Biju Molla, 34, a native of Murshidabad, West Bengal, has been arrested in connection with it.

The incident occurred when the accused entered Nimisha’s home and tried to snatch a gold necklace, weighing 2.5 sovereigns, from her 82-year-old grandmother Mariyamma.

When Nimisha tried to prevent the attack, the assailant slit her neck using a knife. On hearing her scream, Eliyas, elder brother of Nimisha’s father, rushed to the spot but the assailant hacked him too. 

Eliyas, who sustained injuries on his hand, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
