THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan reiterated the government’s intention to bring in a piece of legislation to prevent the use of places of worship as venues for arms training.

Replying to questions in the Assembly, he said the police were closely monitoring all ‘physical attack’ training provided by the RSS. The study camp and training provided to RSS workers and children at the Thokkilangadi Aided HSS and Bharateeya Vidyapeedom Central School, Parassala, were held with the knowledge of the school administration, the Chief Minister said.

The government has recommended action against the school administration. The DPI, based on a High Court order in April 2000, had instructed that schools should not be used for purposes other than education-related activities. Such training need not be stopped if they are intended solely for health improvement, but arms training is another matter, he said.
