Kochi NIA court extends Indian Mujahideen founder Abdul Subhan Qureshi's remand till July 4

NIA Judge P Krishna Kumar extended Qureshi’s remand period after he was produced before the court as part of the proceedings.

KOCHI: The NIA Court on Monday extended the remand period of Abdul Subhan Qureshi, founder-member of Indian Mujahideen (IM) and an accused in the 2007 Wagamon SIMI camp case, till July 4. NIA Judge P Krishna Kumar extended Qureshi’s remand period after he was produced before the court as part of the proceedings.

Later, Qureshi was sent back to the Viyyur Central Jail. The identification parade of the accused was completed a few weeks ago. The NIA will seek Qureshi’s custody in the coming days.Qureshi, the 35th accused in Wagamon SIMI Camp case, had been absconding since the Ahmedabad blast in 2008.

He was arrested by the Delhi Police early this year.Qureshi was the treasurer of SIMI when the training camp was held at Thangalpara near Wagamon in December 2007.Recently, the NIA Court had sentenced 18 accused persons to 7 years’ imprisonment and acquitted 17 others in the case.
