THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said public support for biodiversity conservation in the state will be ensured. He was inaugurating the biodiversity museum at Vallakadavu near here on Tuesday.

“The government is laying stress on projects which are practical in conserving the environment. The museum at Vallakadavu can attract national attention in the future. It will also help public understand about the environment, geosphere, and biodiversity. Environment conservation should go hand-in-hand with the development of the state. Implementation of Haritha Kerala Mission and cleaning up of Killiyar river  by Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation are examples,” he said.

Industries are necessary for development. The government is committed to conserving the environment, he said. Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran presided over the function. He said the museum will help restore the elegance of the historical ‘boatupura’ at Vallakadavu.
