Colleges figuring in prelim list likely to miss deadline

The  90 colleges from Kerala selected in the preliminary list for the Union Government's Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan project, may not be able to submit detailed project report.

KOCHI:An overwhelming majority of the 90 colleges from Kerala, which were selected in the preliminary list for the Union Government's Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) project, may not be able to submit the detailed project report (DPR) at the Thiruvananthapuram zonal office by Tuesday owing to a paucity of time.

K V Thomas MP, in a letter to the Prime Minister, pointed out that the 90 select colleges had received information regarding the submission of DPR only on June 12 (last Tuesday). Since Friday was an holiday owing to Eid Il Fitr, followed by two non-working days (Saturday and Sunday), the colleges in the preliminary list did not get sufficient time to obtain all the details, which have to be submitted.

RUSA is an important project of the Centre to boost the higher education. Under the scheme `2 crore will be given to each of the select educational institution. The scheme is implemented jointly by the Central, state and aided educational institutions.
