Posts for differently-abled:Govt reconstitutes panel
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government on Monday reconstituted the expert committee to identify the posts meant for reservation of differently- abled persons. According to Social Justice minister K K Shylaja, while the revamped committee will have experts and representatives of various associations working among differently abled persons and others along with existing members. The committee, to be chaired by Social Justice Department secretary, has Social Justice Director as its convener and State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities as its member secretary.
The other members of the committee include secretary of Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department, Secretary of Planning and Economic Affairs, Labour Commissioner, Health Director, Medical Education Department Director, executive director of NISH, director of National Association for the Blind, director of Vocational Rehabilitation and others. “In addition to the said committee, a panel of doctors comprising heads of various departments including ophthalmology, ENT, orthopaedics, psychiatry, physical medicine and neurology of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College has also been constituted. “The committee should invite the said panel while considering the posting of each of the differently-abled categories,” said Shylaja.
According to the minister, a detailed guideline has been released as part of the functioning of the expert committee and this includes reconsidering the vacancies identified for the differently- abled in not less than every three years. The other major directive that has been given to the committee includes inviting the PSC representative for attending the meeting as and when needed.
