Amit Shah is threatening Supreme Court, says CPM's Ramachandran Pillai

BJP national president Amit Shah has literally threatened the Supreme Court with his speech made in Kannur, CPM politburo member S Ramachandran Pillai said on Sunday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP national president Amit Shah has literally threatened the Supreme Court with his speech made in Kannur, CPM politburo member S Ramachandran Pillai said on Sunday.

“By telling the SC to issue only verdicts that can be enforced, Shah has publicly asked the court not to issue any ruling that is not to the BJP’s liking,” he said. The speech intended to pressurise the court which is set to consider a number of important cases, including those pertaining to Ayodhya, Rafale and developments in CBI, he said.

“Shah, through his speech, has put pressure on the court. This is tantamount to direct interference in judicial matters,” he said.

"Shah’s statement that BJP workers will pull down the LDF Government makes it clear the BJP’s intention is not the protection of faith, but topple the government in Kerala,” Pillai said.

He said there was no basis for protests against the state government in the Sabarimala issue as it was merely trying to enforce the Supreme Court order.

“The BJP has not moved the court against the verdict,” Pillai said. “The Sabarimala issue will not help the BJP in the upcoming elections,” he said.

Shah’s decision to land at Kannur airport before its formal inauguration displays the arrogance of the ruling party at the Centre, added Pillai.
