KOZHIKODE: IIM-Kozhikode, which is upbeat over record placement of its students this year, has received a shot in the arm with the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings 2018, placing it at the sixth spot among management institutions in the country.
According to IIM Director-in charge Khulbhushan Balooni, the institution’s emphasis on management research has helped it fetch a good ranking from the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development.
“Research is becoming an important aspect of academic ranking. IIM-K has always done well in terms of research. We have increased our efforts in getting our works published in leading research publications over the last couple of years. This has helped us get a good position at the national level,” Balooni told Express.
In 2017, NIRF rankings had placed IIM-K at the fifth spot. “The drop of a rank this year reminds us that we should work hard to retain our position,” Balooni said. In the first NIRF rankings released in 2016, IIM-K had won fifth spot
