THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : The Health Department is set to unveil a ‘Homeo Village Project’ in the state. Setting the wheels in motion, Health Minister K K Shylaja said efforts will be made to open homeo dispensaries in all panchayats in a phased manner. The minister said this while inaugurating a programme to mark World Homoeopathy Day celebrations. While saying the government is planning to open up 20 homoeo dispensaries this financial year itself, the Minister added the department will create adequate posts for the same.
“The government is committed to ensuring homoeo dispensaries in every panchayat. As per the statistics available at present 49 grama panchayats do not have a homoeo dispensary. To ensure effective intervention in the sector, a homoeo directorate will also soon be established,” said Shylaja. Earlier, while addressing the gathering, the minister said as homoeopathy is now being opted for by people thanks to the absence of side-effects and for being comparatively cost-effective, she added while moving forward with such initiatives, efforts will also be made to revitalise the AYUSH sector.
Under Ardram Mission, the basic infrastructural facilities of dispensaries are being improved. Such initiatives are also being carried out in district homoeo hospitals. What the department now plans to do is to improve the facilities of taluk hospitals. Also, in places were taluk hospitals are absent, the dispensaries will be raised to the standard of taluk hospitals,” she said. The programme was attended by National Ayush Mission state director Kesavendra Kumar, Ayush deputy secretary Navjot Khosa and homoeopathy director K Jamuna. A seminar was held on the subject “Resolving mental stress among teenagers through homoeopathy”.
