THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP state president P S Sreedharan Pillai will observe a one-day fast before the state police headquarters on Tuesday in protest against the action taken by the police against devotees in the Sabarimala issue.

Pillai said that BJP district leaders will take out march on the same day to police superintendent offices in all districts except Thiruvananthapuram. The NDA will conduct a programme in all Assembly constituencies on November 2 for the protection of Sabarimala customs.

He said an undeclared war is taking place in the state with the CPM trying to crush the peaceful agitations carried out by devotees. He said the Sabarimala Samrakshana Yatra under the auspices of the NDA from Madhur temple in Kasargod to Sabarimala will last from November 8 to 13. BDJS state president Thushar Vellappally will also take part in the rally.

Pillai said when the temple opens for darshan on November 5, the BJP will support believers who will protest against women’s entry. He said the CPM, which is a party driven by non-believers, is trying to destroy Sabarimala and convert this into an ordinary Ayyappa temple.

Condemning the arrest of Rahul Easwar, Pillai said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was using police force to silence his critics which is not fair in a democracy.

On Amit Shah’s statement that the Central government will pull down the state government if the state is continuing to harass Ayyappa devotees, Pillai said the BJP national president has clearly said the people of the state will bring an end to the government led by Pinarayi Vijayan and not that the Central government will bring a legislation to dismiss the CPM-led state government.
