KOLLAM: PDP chairman Abdul Nasser Madhani, who was awarded an eight-day parole by a Bengaluru court, visited his ailing mother at Sasthamcotta on Tuesday. He reached Thiruvananthapuram by air and went straight to his home at Anvarsseri in Sasthamkotta by road. His wife Soofiya Madhani, younger son Salahudeen Ayoobi and PDP state general secretary Muhammad Rajeeb accompanied him.

By noon, Madhani visited his mother Asma Beevi, who is  under treatment for cancer at Padmavathy Heart Hospital in Sasthamcotta. After spending some time with his mother, he returned to Anvarsseri orphanage managed by him.

The Bengaluru trial court granted him parole till November 4. He was allowed to proceed to Kerala after he submitted the details of the journey with the Bengaluru city police. A team of 11 police officers from Karnataka, including two inspectors, is accompanying him.

Madhani visited his ailing mother last in May. Madhani was arrested by the Kerala Police and handed over to the Bengaluru Police on August 17, 2010. Since then, he has been incarcerated in Parapanna Agrahara Prison as an under-trial prisoner in connection with the Bangalore serial blasts. Though the Supreme Court ordered to complete the trial proceedings within four months in November 14, 2014, the order has not yet been implemented.
