From 1957 to 2021: Woman leaders in Kerala Assembly - A rundown

While Kerala has had woman MLAs since the first assembly in 1957, their representation has never crossed 10% in  the house.

While Kerala has had woman MLAs since the first assembly in 1957, their representation has never crossed 10% in  the house. With 13 MLAs, the 10th Assembly (1996-2001) saw the highest woman representation of all time.

K R Gowri had been elected to the assembly 10 times since 1957, the highest for any woman MLA. She was elected in 1957, 60, 67  (lone member), 70, 80, 82,  87, 91, 96 and 2001.

The 3rd and 5th Assembly in 1967 and 1977, respectively, saw just one woman leader getting elected. They were K R Gowri (1967) and Bhargavi Thankappan (1977)
