BHAWANIPATNA: Maoists killed one person in the forest at Ujurupa area under Lanjigarh police limits on Wednesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Ajit Patnaik, a native of Trilochanpur village near Lanjigarh.

A letter left behind by the Maoists mentioned that Ajit was given death penalty as he was a police informer and also worked as a village coordinator for Vedanta Foundation.

Lanjigarh police said the Maoists waylaid Ajit while he was travelling in a motorcycle with his uncle inside the forest around 8 am. They then killed him by slitting his throat.

The ultras, however, did not harm Ajit’s uncle.
