BHUBANESWAR: The South Korean steel giant Posco has reaffirmed its commitment to set up the 12 mtpa steel plant in the state.

  “We have already arranged 2000 acres of land out of Posco’s requirement of 4004 acres for the plant near Paradip,” Chief Secretary BK Patnaik told mediapersons after meeting a delegation of Posco-India.

  The discussion between the State Government and thePosco-India officials assumed significance ahead of the March 19 meeting to be chaired by the principal secretary to the Prime Minister in Delhi. The chief secretary is scheduled to attend the meeting.

  The March 19 meeting at the South Block on Posco project, billed as the largest FDI in the country, will be held before the proposed India-Republic of Korea (RoK) Economic Cooperation meet. As the RoK has been continuously raising the issue of stalling the Posco project, the Prime Minister’s Office

(PMO) would like to know about the progress in it, a letter received by the State Government said.
