Child's neck slit in chain loot attempt

In an attempt to snatch a gold chain, a miscreant left a two-and-a-half-year-old child seriously injured at Sarangapur village on Tuesday. The miscreant, yet to be identified, had come to see the boy when he slit the child’s throat with a blade leaving him seriously injured. He was rushed to local hospital and later shifted to Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack, police said. The miscreant, however, could not take the chain.

In the FIR filed at Kuakhia police, the boy’s father, Santosh Rout, said his son was playing in front of their house when at about 8 am the miscreant noticed him and attempted to steal the gold chain by cutting it with a blade. When his mother came out on hearing the child scream the miscreant slit his neck.

Kuakhia police station IIC Bijay Kumar Aich said efforts were on to nab the miscreant.
