The Kandhamal administration has put in place security measures on the eve of the 4th death anniversary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Lakshmanananda Saraswati on Thursday coinciding with Janmastami.

While vehicles are being frisked at all entry and exit points to the district since Tuesday, security personnel have been deployed in many areas.

“CRPF, OSAP, three units of ODRAF besides 19 platoons of civil forces have been deployed at strategic locations of Kandhamal to avoid any untoward situation,” said DSP G C Behera.

Security has also been beefed up in the Jalespata ashram under Tumudibandha police limits where Lakshmanananda was killed in 2008.
