Anger over the collapse of civic amenities in CDA Markat Nagar, the satellite city of Cuttack, spilled on to the roads on Wednesday as a day-long bandh call given by the Congress evoked spontaneous response from the residents.

Shops and business establishments remained closed through the day with vehicular movement coming to a standstill.

Congress activists led by City president Md. Mokim blocked roads demanding immediate action to improve the civic condition in the satellite city. They alleged that the civic amenities right from the roads to sewage channels and streetlighting had all deteriorated.
