Family accepts infant after DNA report

Honouring the High Court’s decision, Rashmita Malik and her family have accepted their girl child. The DNA report confirmed that Rashmita had given birth to a girl child, which the family had earlier denied.

Rashmita and her mother-in-law Latika will leave for Cuttack on Saturday to bring the child home. They have named her Rosy. “After the DNA test report, I am glad to accept her,” Rashmita said, adding that her four-month ordeal has ended. The family hails from Khandayat Patakira under Nischintakoili police limits.

Latika had claimed that she had seen her daughter-in-law delivering a male child at SCB Medical, Cuttack, on March 30. “Perhaps it was an illusion, the DNA test report has proved me wrong,” said Latika. There is no question of hesitation in accepting her, she added.

Rashmita’s husband Sushant Malik, who works as a welder in Saudi Arabia, said, “The family would celebrate their daughter’s homecoming on Saturday.”
