MCL provides jobs to 2,113 land losers

The Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has provided employment to at least 2,113 land losers in Angul, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh districts in the last three years.

Director (Personnel) Shyama Charan Padhy said, “The land losers, who are not entitled to job benefits, are offered ITI training.”

He claimed that evacuation of people from all the seven villages to the resettlement colony and other sites of their choice had been a smooth affair and all dues under the rehabilitation policy settled.

The displaced belong to three villages at Talcher coalfield, two in Ib valley field and another two near Basundhara coalfield in Sundargarh district.

The company has another plan under which the displaced will be provided all infrastructure benefits if minimum 20 of them are ready to move into a new resettlement colony. The company will provide road, drain, power and water supply free of cost, he added.
