3 test positive for Dengue

Despite the special 45-day programme undertaken by the Ganjam district health department to eradicate and create awareness about dengue, chikungunya and malaria, all the three diseases continue to spread in the district.

Three patients undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here on Thursday tested positive for dengue.

The three have been identified as Jannabi Pitar (28) and Samista Barik (22) of Berhampur and Pitabas Dakua (37) of Hinjili.

MKCG MCH Superintendent Ashok Behera said the three had been shifted to dengue ward and under necessary treatment.

Reports said while the 10 malaria-affected have been admitted to MKCG here, chikungunya has spread in several villages of Rangeilunda in the last one week. A fiveyear- old girl of Chhatrapur too had reportedly died of dengue with more cases pouring in from Gadagobindapur in Digapahandi block. The district health department has, however, denied these reports.
