While taking away awards for entertaining the people of the State with their on-screen roles, be it as the favourite beta, beti, bahu or husband, the Tarang family mesmerized the 30,000-odd crowd, who had come to attend the award night, with their stunning performances.
According to Ratikant Satpathy, AVP, Orissa Television Limited, ‘’the whole idea of hosting the award ceremony in smaller cities is to connect with the viewers. Besides providing a beautiful platform to the telly stars to strike a chord with the audience, such an award ceremony promotes healthy competition among all the mega serials being aired on the channel and motivates actors to perform even better in the days to come.’’
The evening witnessed some scintillating performances by the television and film stars. While the most happening pair on small screen, Adi (Mantu) and Riya (Anisha) of Swambhimaan fame dazzled on stage, depicting their love story in the form of a journey from the college-going days to those of marital bliss, senior members of the family like Rajeswar Jagadev (Topae Sindura) and Trushna (Abhuja E Maana) and Surya Dev (Uansi Kanya) and Ambika (Swabhimaan) came together to perform on an interesting medley of evergreen songs of the legendary Akhaya Mohanty.
Papu Pom Pom tickled the funny bone of the audiences with his stand-up comedy and even rocked the stage with a dance number from his movie Rangila Toka with actress Debjani. Yet another star attraction was a unique semi-classical dance performance of Radha and Krishna by Anu Choudhary and Saswat Joshi, who also judge the reality show, Dance Challenge on the channel. ‘’It was a beautiful experience performing for TPA. It was more like a family get-together and they sure are happy occasions,’’ said Anu. ‘’The lovely stage that had been put up for the ceremony added to the charm,’’ she added.
When it came to awards, there were happy faces all around. According to Adi and Riya of Swabhimaan fame, who got the favourite Jodi award for the first time, it was a double bonanza for them, performing together on stage and getting an award as the best couple. ‘’We were almost expecting it,’’ says Adi.
Adds Riya, ‘’In fact, we were on top of the world as Swabhimaan bagged many awards including the favourite serial, story, director, comedian, screenplay and even the favourite maa was from our camp,’’ she gleefully states.
On the other hand, Lakshmi (Mamata) and Narayan (Somresh) became the favourite bahu and favourite husband in the parivaar. ‘’Last year, favourite son and this time favourite husband. Sounds a little odd to emerge as a favourite husband but then maybe all wives want their husbands to be like Narayan, the avtaar of Ram,’’ jokes Narayan, adding, it felt great to have received the award from Arun Govil, the original ‘Ram’ of small screen, who had flown in exclusively for the ceremony.
‘’This apart, for the first time, I performed something new for my viewers - action-packed with fireworks and I was elated,’’ he says, adding, he had been preparing for the act for almost three months.
Khushi (Lipsa) and Ayush (Santosh) of Kichi Luha Peejaye Otha bagged the favourite daughter and son awards respectively while Elina (Rashmita) of Abujha E Mana fame turned out to be the favourite wife in the parivaar. ‘’My first award and I was super-excited, more so because I became the favourite wife even when me and my husband are going through a little difficult time in the serial at present,’’ says Elina with a naughty smile.
As the curtains came down, all the members joined hands to perform the last act together on the new theme song of Tarang Parivaar with a message that was loud and clear. We are family.
The event will be aired on November 25 on Tarang at 7 pm.
