CESU directive to schools on electric poles

District administration has asked the Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) to shift electric poles and transformers passing through or on the premises of schools and anganwadi centres at the earliest for safety of children.

Collector Satya Kumar Mallick conducted a meeting with the authorities of School and Mass Education Department here and CESU officials regarding shifting of these electric poles and transformers from near school and anganwadi centres on Friday. These electric wires and transformers pose threat to the lives of the children studying in  schools and anganwadi centres.

A case in the point is the Purohitpur High School under Jagatsinghpur Municipality. Near the school, there is a 110 kv transformer. Another transformer is at Alipingal High School while 11 kv line passes through the premises of Praharjpur High School. The Collector said Jagatsinghpur electrical division would spend Rs 96 lakh while Paradip division would spend Rs 76 lakhs towards shifting lines and transformers.
