Probe Team Confirms Land Grab

A four-member team of National Confederation of Dalit Organisation (NACDOR) inquired into the allegation of land grab by Mass Education Minister Rabi Narayan Nanda in Jeypore area on Sunday.

A four-member team of National Confederation of Dalit Organisation (NACDOR) inquired into the allegation of land grab by Mass Education Minister Rabi Narayan Nanda in Jeypore area on Sunday.

The team headed by organisation president Ashok Mallick visited Patraput where Minister’s farm house is located and met 12 Dalit families who had complained of land grab by Minister’s family.

Later, Mallick told mediapersons that the Dalit families showed their land records where the Minister’s farm house was built. About 42 acres of land were encroached by Nanda, he added.

He further alleged that neither the Sub-Collector nor the Tehsildar gave justice to the Dalit families who have lost their land. Mallick demanded that State agencies should take up the matter seriously.

“If the Government does not take any action against Nanda and his family, the matter would be taken to National Commission for SC and ST soon,” Mallick said.

Some Dalit families of Patraput had alleged that Nanda and his family had encroached their land which was later refuted by the Minister.

The Minister had clarified that neither he nor any of his family members was involved in unlawful activities and they were ready for probe.
