Raise retirement age to 62, says INTUC

The Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) has demanded that the retirement age of employees, both in the government and the private sectors, should be raised to 62 years.

A resolution to this effect was passed at the State executive meeting of the INTUC presided over by State president and Rajya Sabha member Ramchandra Khuntia. Khuntia demanded that ceiling on bonus should be lifted and all employees should be paid bonus. He said the monthly pension from employees’ provident fund should be raised to minimum of `1,000 per month. Alleging that welfare schemes meant for the workers are not being implemented because of large-scale vacancies in Labour department, Khuntia criticised the State Government for its anti-worker policies.
